Information we collect

We collect information in a few different ways, depending on how you use the site:

• Contact form: if you message us, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you write.
• Live tools: some tools on this site — the SSL Checker, Bulk SSL Checker, CT Log Search, CA Chain Builder, OCSP Checker, OpenSSL Trace, and DCV Readiness Checker — send the hostname or domain you enter to our server, which connects to that host on your behalf to retrieve certificate information. We don't log or store what you check. The remaining tools (SSL & CSR Decoder, CSR Generator, Key Matcher, SSL Converter, RSA Key Converter) run entirely in your browser — nothing you paste into them is ever sent to us at all.
• Standard server logs: like most sites, our hosting provider logs basic request data (IP address, page requested, browser type, timestamp) for security and operational purposes.
• Cookies from third-party services we use: see the Cookies section below.

How we use it

• To respond to messages sent through the contact form
• To operate the live certificate-checking tools (the hostname you enter is used only to perform that one check)
• To understand which guides are useful and improve the site
• To display advertising and measure its performance, where applicable

Cookies and advertising

This site may use Google AdSense to display ads, and Google Ads for conversion tracking. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Some pages also use Google reCAPTCHA to prevent automated abuse of the live checking tools. reCAPTCHA is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Third parties

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the site: our hosting provider, Google (for advertising, analytics, and reCAPTCHA, where used), and — solely for the CT Log Search tool — crt.sh, a public Certificate Transparency log search service, which receives the domain you search for in order to return results.

Your rights

If you're in the EU or UK, you have rights under GDPR to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
